Enclomiphene (enclomiphene citrate) is an oral medication that may help men raise their own testosterone by increasing luteinizing hormone (LH), the signal that tells the testes to produce testosterone. Unlike testosterone replacement therapy, it doesn’t add testosterone from outside the body, so it may help preserve natural production and fertility. It’s prescription-only, and a clinician decides whether it’s appropriate for you.
Your brain monitors estrogen levels to help decide how much LH and FSH to release. Enclomiphene blocks estrogen’s signal in the brain, so the brain responds by releasing more LH and FSH. Higher LH prompts the testes to produce more testosterone, and FSH supports sperm production. In short, it works by turning up your body’s own system rather than bypassing it. Read more about luteinizing hormone.

Clomiphene (Clomid) is a mixture of two forms, enclomiphene and zuclomiphene. Enclomiphene is the form primarily responsible for the effect on LH and testosterone, which is why some clinicians prefer it on its own. Your clinician can explain which option, if any, fits you.
Enclomiphene is generally considered for men whose low testosterone is related to low signaling from the brain, rather than a problem with the testes themselves. That’s why testing LH alongside testosterone matters. It’s also often discussed for men who want to protect fertility or avoid lifelong TRT. Only a clinician can determine if it’s appropriate after reviewing your labs, symptoms and history.
Like any medication, enclomiphene can have side effects. Headache is among those reported. Because it changes hormone signaling, clinicians monitor testosterone and estradiol with follow-up testing. Discuss your full medical history and any medications with your clinician before starting.
Enclomiphene is the primary hormone-supporting ingredient in the Reboot Program™. If a clinician from our partner medical practice determines you’re eligible, it’s included in a compounded prescription capsule that may also contain DHEA, 7-Keto DHEA, progesterone and, only if needed, anastrozole. The program also includes daily vitamin packs and periodic follow-up testing. See details on our pricing page.
The goal of an enclomiphene-based approach is to reboot and rebalance your body’s natural production, not to replace it. How long you use it and how you come off it should be planned with your clinician.
The first step is testing. The Vitality Test measures 6 biomarkers (free and total testosterone, LH, SHBG, estradiol and PSA) from a sample collected at home with an FDA-cleared device, and includes a telemed consult to go over your results, with no further obligation. The Reboot Program is optional. Learn how at-home hormone testing works.
Responses vary from person to person. Because it works through your body’s own signaling, your clinician will typically use follow-up hormone testing to see how your testosterone, LH and estradiol respond and adjust your plan from there. Results vary, and no medication works the same way for everyone.
Enclomiphene requires a prescription. Products sold without one may not be what they claim to be. Work with a licensed clinician who orders lab work and monitors you over time.
